Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday  - 8.30am-5pm

To encourage you to work hard, aim high and bring your best to work, every day.  We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading the engineering function. To ensure you deliver, maintain and manage efficient high performing assets, processes and systems and manage maintenance of our machinery.     

 

Duties:

  • Champion SHE compliance within the engineering function and support delivery across the wider business.
  • Champion the Engineering Excellence standards and attend the monthly Engineering Forum meetings.
  • Ensure you share the Engineering Excellence learnings, standards, and the monthly Forum presentation with the site SLT and your team to ensure they adopt the same principles and practices, aware of the developments taking place within the engineering family.
  • Lead the development of asset strategies to meet organisational goals.
  • Review operational data and information for assets.
  • Develop a strategy to identify intervention and mitigation options for the failure of assets.
  • Develop a strategy to identify and prioritise the asset needs using whole life cost, cost-benefit analysis, cost effectiveness analysis, multi-criteria decision making and options comparisons.
  • Champion the business development programme prioritises investment needs and/or to inform asset management decision making.
  • Ensure an effective root cause analysis programme is in place.
  • Develop and maintain an effective and accurate engineering and site services cost plan, regularly provide updates to stakeholders, value engineer and provide expenditure forecasts.
  • Ensure an effective impact and contingency plans for utilities and/or service failures. Lead consultation with subject matter experts.

  • Develop and present reports, for example, internal performance reports, asset management plans, reports to sector specific regulators and certifying bodies.
  • Ensure an effective continuous improvement programme is in place.
  • Manage the selection of external suppliers, the setting of objectives for suppliers and performance measurement of suppliers within the context of the organisation’s asset management approach.
  • Takes ownership of asset management, including implementation of the resource and competence strategy, within the organisation to support clear and consistent decision making.
  • Ensure technical engineering performance reviews are carried out in collaboration with the organisation’s functions and stakeholders.
  • Audit and review engineering documentation to ensure it is current.
  • Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are made available.
  • Contribute to food and drink internal and external audits.
  • Management of day-to-day HR activities for direct reports.

 

About you

In this role you will need to have previous management experience as well as electrical or mechanical background is essential.

A good knowledge of health and safety legislation and strong interpersonal skills. A good understanding of operational DWOR and engineering KPI’s is essential.

To be successful in this role you will need to work well under pressure and be able to assist when required.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • Engineering apprenticeship (C&G / EAL NVQ Level 3 / 4 or OAL FDEM Diploma).
  • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3)
  • Food Safety Qualification Level 2
  • NEBOSH General
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Previous Leadership experience within a Food Manufacturing environment  
  • Engineering Technical Qualification level 3
