Shift: Day shift, 3’s & 2’s, shift pattern (6am – 6pm)
Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 per annum (Dependant on experience)

Bakkavor Spalding operates three factories on the same site in Spalding, Lincolnshire, employing over 600 people. These factories specialise in making salad accompaniments such as coleslaw and pasta salads, sandwich wraps and food to go salads as well as a soups, sauces, dips and meals.

The Role
Bakkavor Spalding have a fantastic opening for a Senior Section Manager on Nights, to work at our Soups and Sauces sector. The successful Senior Section Manager will provide leadership and take ownership for your area, leading your teams performance and driving planning, materials, labour, costs and efficiencies. The key accountabilities of the role are;

Health & Safety - To pro-actively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.

Quality Standards - To lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are kept and audit requirements are fully met.

Performance Management - To appropriately manage the performance of all teams members including Section Leaders & Managers through the use of Bakkavor performance managements systems.

Training & Development - To own the training & development of all levels of team including managers. Actively coach, develop, recruit and train team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement within the business.

NPD Process – manages the NPD process within their area of responsibility to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch

Performance Improvement through use of KPIs – Challenges and drives adherence and compliance to KPIs to drive performance. Ensures Team delivers agreed KPIs across the operation Ensuring systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs. Develops and implements PIPs and identifies areas for improvement

Resource Management - Plan, organise and measure labour and material requirements within their area to ensure that both short- and long- term agreed targets are met.

Communication – Manages the communication and engagement process in their area to ensure that the workforce in their area is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross-functional links and that channels of communication are clear and available.

Recruitment - Involvement in the selection process for direct reports and all staff within their area to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels. Responsible for the supervision and coaching of Section Managers.

Employee Relations – Supports and encourages the Bakkavor values and a positive culture within their area, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management. Supports an effective SEF representation structure in their area.

Continuous Improvement & Change Management - Develop cross functional teams for improvement projects. Review working practices with customers, suppliers & between departments in order to identify new ways of working which can add value or reduce costs. Where possible quantify savings/ profit improvements and measure achievement of these improvements against targets.

About You
You will have experience working as a Senior Manager in a food manufacturing environment and will have led teams in a fast paced manufacturing business.

You will understand retailer expectations and how we meet them.

You will be a great leader capable of inspiring and engaging your team, understanding the pressure of a factory environment.
