Who are Bakkavor:


Bakkavor Spalding has three factories based on the same site in Spalding, Lincolnshire, employing over 1500 people. These production units produce soups, sauces, dips as part of our meals range as well as salad accompaniments such as coleslaw and pasta salads, sandwich wraps and food to go salads.


We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Financial Controller at our Spalding Meals site.

 

The Role.

As a key member of the Spalding Site Leadership & Meals Sector Finance teams, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with the site General Manager to deliver the operational financial plan for a £220m turnover site.
  • Input into the development and delivery of functional and business objectives
  • The financial conscience of the site ensuring good financial decisions are taken in all areas of the business
  • Leading the site finance team in operating a strong financial control framework, delivering against all internal and external reporting requirements.
  • A senior member of the finance community in the Bakkavor group, striving to adopt and share best practice at all times.
  • To be the finance support on all outbound/inbound distribution activity, partnering the Head of Distribution and Supply Chain Performance
  • Championing the Finance Transformation agenda on site ensuring all activity is well communicated and fully supported.

 

Key Accountabilities.

 

Strategic Partnerships – Act as a key advisor to business unit leaders, providing financial insights that influence strategic decisions. Foster strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment of financial strategies with business objectives.

Financial Control - To provide overall business and financial control and support to the business operating as part of the Site Leadership Team

Performance Reporting & Improvement - Develop and maintain comprehensive performance reporting tools. Identify, evaluate, and recommend cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities. Work closely with operational teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and track their progress against defined financial targets.

Forecasting - Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes for assigned business units. Ensure plans are delivered to drive progressive financial metrics with corrective action put in place when performance deviates from target

Investments – Ensure that capital and non capital investments are robustly appraised and are consistent with the business plan. Provide detailed variance analysis and actionable insights to guide performance improvement.

Change Management - Support the finance and business teams through change initiatives, ensuring that financial systems, processes, and controls are adapted to meet evolving business needs.

Functional Impact – To be the finance support on all outbound/inbound distribution activity, acting as a financial conscience for the Head of Distribution and Supply Chain Performance, assisting in the financial evaluation of project activity & being a conduit into the broader finance function as required.

People Management – To lead the site finance function. To recruit, lead, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve personal development and continual improvement.

 

About you.

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification (preferably CIMA).
  • Experience of working in a fast -paced manufacturing business preferably food manufacturing.
  • Experience of business partnering in a multi-functional environment.
  • Great inter-personal skills – able to build effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the business.
  • The ability to operate in an autonomous role on an autonomously run site – making decisions as required but knowing when to escalate or seek guidance and support.
  • Ability to drive cultural change to true value led operational finance business partnering.
  • Strong commercial acumen with clear and measurable successes in current and prior roles.
  • Ambassador for the Bakkavor values and to champion an inclusive culture.
  • Please note this is a hybrid light role so will require on site presence for a minimum of 4 days a week.
