What we do.
This fantastic opportunity will be based at our Bakkavor Spalding site, which employs over 1,470 people across 3 manufacturing facilities & 1 Distribution Centre. We specialise in making hand crafted sandwich wraps, salads, dips, soups & sauces and mayonnaise.
About this role.
The purpose of the Senior Finance Business Partner role is to manage the Finance Business Partnering Team to provide support and insight to the Factory Management and wider Operations team, and influence decision-making to drive Site profitability. The Senior Finance Business Partner will be part of the broader Business Finance Team, requiring the ability to build a strong working relationship with the Business FP&A Team to communicate factory trends and cost drivers for input to financial models. The person is also responsible for on ground adherence to Group controls, assisting the Senior Financial Controller in key meetings, reviews, and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Partnering - Serve as a key advisor to the business, turning data into clear insights to guide decisions. Collaborate with stakeholders to align finances with business goals. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, manage risks, and ensure compliance. Analyse financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting. Lead finance input for new systems and work with operations to optimize tools.
- Forecasting - Analyse business trends and cost drivers to support accurate forecasting and planning. Provide timely feedback and data to the Business FP&A Team for financial submissions. Assist Cost Centre Managers in preparing realistic overhead forecasts, including inflation and cost-saving measures. Review and communicate variance analyses between actuals and forecasts to operations, delivering actionable insights. Prepare clear forecast commentaries highlighting key financial variances and priorities.
- Product Costing & Pricing - Own financial standard and actual costs, ensuring accuracy and clear communication. Manage the costing process and controls, oversee the costing system, and capture all costs in new product launches. Review product development costs for accuracy and market alignment. Support finance teams with costing analysis and help the business understand cost variances.
- Capital Management & Investment Appraisal - Conduct financial analysis and prepare business cases for investments. Collaborate on maintenance capital plans to optimize asset management and costs. Forecast capital invoices and cash flow, monitor project delays, and support corrective actions.
- Communication & Change Management - Collaborate with FP&A, Shared Services, and Operations teams to communicate updates, drive process improvements, and support continuous improvement and cost reduction. Contribute to finance projects and promote best practices and standardization across the finance function.
- Control Environment - Support audit activities and ensure site compliance with Group controls. Identify gaps and help implement improved processes. Lead site asset verification and communicate asset transactions to Finance Shared Services.
- People Management - Build strong relationships and support the Finance Business Partnering Team with guidance, training, and timely responses. Conduct performance reviews to foster growth and ensure the team has necessary tools for success.
About you.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advise and support using analysis and trend information to influence at all levels of the organisation
- Comprehensive Microsoft Office skills - particularly MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate excellent employee management skills; ability to plan, assign and direct work; ability to recruit, mentor and appraise employees
- Ability to identify and apply best practices for Operational Finance activity
- Previous experience at a management level preferred
- Experience of working in a manufacturing or FMCG environment Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of Operational Finance
- Previous experience in working with Business Intelligence Tools
- Professional Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
