Contract: Permanent
Salary: £70k - £75k
plus 20% bonus, £8,400 car allowance, pension, and family healthcare
Hours/Shift pattern: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours

We’re the market leader in the UK fresh prepared food industry - supplying meals, salads, desserts, pizza and bread to leading grocery retailers including Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.

 

About this role.
The Infrastructure & Operational Technology function is responsible for delivering, managing, and administering infrastructure and operational technology initiatives. This includes overseeing approximately 5,500 users, 1,000 servers, and 1,700 network devices across 22 locations in the UK and 5 in the US.

The Domain Lead has end-to-end accountability for the full lifecycle of all products and services within the client domain. This responsibility covers everything from strategy, roadmap, and capital planning, to delivery, continuous development and improvement, and in-life management, ensuring operational effectiveness and security of all client devices within the organisation.

While certain aspects of delivery and operations, including security patching, are delegated to other areas of Bakkavor, as our Client Domain Lead you’ll maintain accountability and decision-making authority for outcomes within your domain. You’ll ensure that services remain fit for purpose and are delivered to agreed levels of quality and performance.
 

Key role responsibilities.

  • Engages with, and influences, relevant stakeholders to obtain organisational commitment to technology roadmaps. Where appropriate develops business proposals to exploit new and emerging technologies in line with the IT strategy. 

  • Contributes to the organisation's medium and long-term information management strategy. 

  • Identifies and manages resources needed for the planning, development, delivery and decommissioning of specified information and communications systems services and products (including as appropriate storage, modification and communication of data, voice, text, audio and images). 

  • Develops new methods and organisational capabilities (including automation) for the management of systems and services. 

  • Takes full responsibility for budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting, according to agreed policies. Establishes and operates systems to monitor progress, take corrective action and produce reports as directed. 

  • Plans and manages implementation of processes and procedures, tools and techniques for continuous monitoring and managing the performance of any automated systems and services, in respect of their contribution to business performance and benefits to the business, where the measure of success depends on achieving clearly stated business/ financial goals and performance targets. 

  • Aligns the contribution of systems and services to clearly stated business and financial goals and performance targets. 

  • Engages with and influences senior level stakeholders and project teams through change management processes, ensuring that the infrastructure within area of responsibility is managed to provide agreed levels of service and data integrity. 

  • Gives operational and maintenance acceptance for new and changed systems and services. 

  • Within a budgetary framework, takes management responsibility for an area or complete function within IT, where the measure of success depends on achieving business goals, performance targets and agreed service levels as well as on the successful technical implementation or use of information systems. 

  • Manages individual and groups in line with organisational strategy. Supports and guides the work of groups of staff. 

  • Facilitates effective working relationships within and between teams of staff. Motivates groups of staff and teams towards a high level of performance. Engages with, and empowers groups of staff. Acts as a role model for groups of staff, setting a standard, acting professionally at all times and working to a professional code of conduct and ethics. 

  • Manages suppliers to meet key performance indicators and agreed targets. 

  • Uses suppliers' expertise to support and inform development roadmaps. 

About you.
We’re seeking an experienced Domain Lead who combines technical competence with business acumen and excellent communication skills. You understand key areas in the organisation that could benefit from technology and envisions the business potential of emerging technologies. You possess extensive commercial and technical expertise in diverse environments and demonstrates leadership skills for managing innovation and change.

 

We’d like to see.

  • Expertise: Infrastructure architecture, operational/service architecture, metrics, third-party IT services, SLAs, and proof of concept.

  • Proficiency: Contract negotiation and management, Configuration management, standards compliance, stakeholder engagement, financial management, legislation, presentation, appraisal, operations, project management, cyber security, risk management, coaching, service delivery economics, and business proposals.

  • Familiarity: DevOps, cloud/virtualisation, business characteristics, resource allocation, performance monitoring, and disciplinary procedures.
