SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for developing and maintaining a supply base that supports the manufacturing procurement needs. Responsible for maintaining specific inventory and having controls in place to provide accurate procurement information and inventory of goods; providing the correct
amount of raw and packaging goods to the manufacturing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

Responsible for raw materials purchasing and replenishment per the agreed inventory list
Close working relationship with other Junior Buyer and Senior Buyer, allowing for cover where required to ensure service levels to the business and Customer are maintained.
Identifies and assesses suppliers to strengthen supply base.
Ensures that sourcing decisions provide the necessary balance between purchase cost, capacity flexibility and supplier performance.
Ensures rapid, appropriate response and resolution to all supplier issues.
Provides timely cost and supply information to support the decision-making process.
Mitigates obsolescence by actively participating in NPD and E&O processes.
Timely review and authorization of invoices and closing of purchase orders
Supports the Technical and Operations departments by working with suppliers to ensure continuous quality improvements and quick product claims resolution.
Supports Supply Chain, Planning and Manufacturing Operations in developing raw material/packaging economic order quantities, safety stocks and reorder points.
Supports Warehouse operations by actively working to agree min/max stock levels (kan bans) and ensuring MOQ’s and reorder frequencies meet these levels
Manages agreed purchasing KPIs and feeds back through site communication channels.
Participates in daily SIC meeting and management reviews.  Provides live raw material updates for weekly planning and technical reviews.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  •        Bachelors Degree Preferred
  •       1 to 2  years of previous buying experience required.  Preferably linked to food manufacturing.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Must have a confident and clear telephone manner in order to speak to suppliers/customers and interact in on line meetings.
Good working knowledge of MS software, able to pull together and present information at various forums.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
The employee may be required to walk through the facility and able to work at cold temperatures below 35F
The employee may be required to inspect raw material and as such be able to safely lift up to 50lbs in weight
The employee may be asked to carry out sensory testing, providing feedback on raw materials or finished goods items.
