About the role.

 

 

The Occupational Health Technician will play a critical role in delivering high-quality occupational health services, supporting employee well-being, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires advanced skills in health screening, data management, and reporting, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel to analyse and present occupational health data effectively.

 

 

 

Role Accountabilities:

 

 

Occupational Health Services

  • Conduct a range of health assessments, including but not limited to hearing tests, lung function tests, vision screening, and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Manage health surveillance programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies.
  • Provide first aid services and advice in workplace settings.
  • Assist in health promotion and well-being initiatives across the organization.

 

Technical and Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain accurate records of health assessments and interventions in the occupational health database.
  • Use Excel to manage, analyze, and report data related to health trends, compliance, and workforce health metrics.
  • Create and update spreadsheets to monitor health surveillance schedules, appointments, and compliance rates.
  • Develop Excel-based dashboards and reports for senior management.

 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise junior technicians, providing training and mentoring as needed.
  • Support the Occupational Health Manager in developing and improving operational processes.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving complex or escalated cases.

 

Risk Assessments and Compliance

  • Conduct workplace risk assessments, including  manual handling, Food Handling, Skin assessments.
  • Provide recommendations to mitigate health risks identified during assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including COSHH and other relevant standards.

 

 

 About you.

 

If you have experience managing health data and generating reports, have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and have excellent organisational and communication skills then this could be the ideal role for you! This role will require a great understanding of health and safely regulations and occupational health practices.

To be successful you need to have prior experience as an Occupational Health Technician and a willingness to learn and be trained in the role. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create pivot tables, charts and use complex formals is essential. Having excellent organizational and communication skills.

 

Experience with occupational health software systems and knowledge of workplace health risks and mitigating strategies would also be useful, but not essential skills.
