Warehouse Section Leader

Bakkavor Desserts is based in Devizes, Wiltshire and specialises in making chilled desserts such as tarts, yum yums, doughnuts, pies and pastries. The site employs over 550 people and is one of three factories that are part of the Bakkavor Desserts sector in the UK. 

 
The Role

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Warehouse Section Leader to join our Dessert manufacturing site. In this busy and exciting role you will assist the Logistic Manager in the day-to-day running of their departments (Dispatch, Distribution, Black Shoe, Packaging Cage & Warehouse) – driving performance through the business KPIS.
 
Accountabilities

• Assisting the Logistic Manager in maintaining applicable business management systems such as Stevens traceability, Sage, WMS, online data capture and time ware.
• Maintaining daily KPI measures, related to performance management, that have been developed by the Logistic Manager.
• Monitoring GMP standards for your departments as agreed and communicated by the Logistic Manager.
• Assisting the Logistic Manager in the management of staffing levels within the department and ensuring that labour is within the correct confines of the KPI’s.
• Promoting across functional teamwork and ensuring good team working practices are maintained.
• Communicating and resolving issues between other departments & working with the HR department on all people related issues.

About you

Ideally you will have previous logistics experience. You will have the ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative
You are able to lead a team with confidence and setting expectations within your team
A basic understanding of Continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
You will be able to make decisions, solve problems and work well under pressure
Your communication skills will be effective both written and verbally for all levels including internal and external customers and senior management
Good IT Skills with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office Packages
If you have a good understanding of Quality Control/Compliance & effective people management skills this could be the perfect role for you
As a Logistics Section Leader you will require an understanding of KPIS, Food Safety Legislation, HACCP and BRC
