This position is responsible for the preparation and the management of the successful launch of existing product and new product development, ensuring they are technically sound and fully documented. Responsible for driving costs out of the system using lean manufacturing principles. This role is a hands on manufacturing position and includes working for extended periods of time within the plant performing tasks such as kettle cooking, mixing and packing off products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

  • With support from the Process Manager, leading the Process team to manage the process development plan from concept to launch, planning new product trials ensuring that quality, consistency, food safety and legality standards are maintained while managing business critical path dates.
  • Ensuring all data collected from plant trials is fully documented ensuring food safety including HACCP, quality and customer requirements are met. This includes the support and analysis of organoleptic data to help determine shelf life.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all systems are in place for all product launches, including system set up, instructions, QAS and photo standards.
  • Interaction and communication with cross-functional departments to deliver the launch of successful products, in some cases using influence to achieve project timescales.
  • Manages challenges presented with new products in the factory, problem solving and providing hands on support in order to deliver a high quality product.
  • Liaises with the Operational Teams (Production, Technical and Engineering) on all issues relating to product launches including the organization and managing of factory trials.
  • Leads process meetings (post-trial reviews, pre-launch meetings).
  • Liaises with procurement team to ensure raw material available for both trials and launches.
  • Supports the operations team within the plant, in trouble shooting within the factory as required.
  • Plays a role in site continuous improvement process. Challenging the current manufacturing processes to look for improvements and more efficient and less expensive ways to manufacture.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. degree in a scientific discipline or an AA degree, with three years of experience in the food industry or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to relate to all internal levels as well as interface with customers, suppliers and government agencies on a technical level.
Ability to think at a strategic level and translate strategy into action and execution
Project management experience, skilled in the execution of complex and multi-disciplined task management

 

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interprets professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
