Site Services Lead Engineer
Working Hours: 0800-1630 (some out of hour's work required from time to time to meet business requirements)
The Role:
To act as the lead mechanical engineer for the site services team and ensure all site services and building/facilities are maintained to an acceptable & regulatory standard eg water, steam, boilers, refrigeration, air compressors, pumps, motors, air handling equipment etc.
Accountabilities:
- To Ensure all site services plant and equipment eg steam, water, drainage, pressure systems, effluent & air handling are functioning within legal, customer and business requirements.
- Provide technical support and assistance where required to other site services team members & and support apprentice engineers to ensure necessary skills and knowledge are passed on
- Ensure good H&S standards are met & adhered to throughout the department and relevant safe systems of work are in place and kept up to date
- Ensure required works are allocated through CMMS system including PPM’s, corrective actions, audit actions, continuous improvement, planned & unplanned repairs
- Ordering & management of spare parts and materials to support the smooth operation of site services maintenance and corrective tasks
- Maintaining steam boilers and system components e.g. pipework, pressure regulators, safety devices, heat exchangers & steam traps
- Carrying out general facilities repairs & plumbing works e.g. repairing leaks and installing new supply's
- Carry out fault finding on mechanical breakdowns e.g. pumps, motors, gearbox’s & valves to ensure equipment is returned to operation with minimal disruption to the business.
- Liase with other departments to ensure maintenance tasks, repairs and audit actions can be carried out within agreed timescales and to a good standard
- Manage/coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure compliance and service agreements are met
- All tasks delegated by the site services and compliance manager
About you
- Completed mechanical/multi skilled apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 / 4 or city and guilds
- Previous site services maintenance experience
- Competent mechanical/ fault finding & analysis skills
- Flexible working attitude
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Methodical & strong attention to detail
- Strong trouble shooting & decision makings skills
- Awareness of Engineering/legal compliance
- Electrical awareness and understanding
Advantages qualifications/ skills/ knowledge
- Experience in a FMCG manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of gas systems, water treatment plant, cooling towers, refrigeration system & fire alarm systems
- IOSH managing safely
- Legionella awareness/training
- BG01 safe operation of steam boilers
