Salary: £45,000 to £50,000
Our Bakkavor business in Bo’ness, based near Falkirk, specialises in the production of fresh, high quality salad products working primarily with premium retailers. To give a feel for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70million salad-based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people in the town.
The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Bakkavor Salads, Bo’ness Finance Account Team on a fixed term contract basis.
In this busy and exciting role, you will provide support to the Financial Controller and undertake responsibility for the line management of an Assistant Financial accountant.
Accountabilities
Performance Reporting
- Ensuring that periodic reports are prepared/submitted and that exceptions are identified and commented upon
- Supporting the cost centre managers, to ensure they understand the information generated and are using it to improve performance
Rolling Forecast
- Supporting the generation of the overhead, cash and balance sheet elements of the rolling forecast and reviewing the results
Control Environment
- Applying the financial control system - for example asset verification, PO authority limits and CEP’s
- Identifying areas of improvement / weaknesses and suggesting modifications as appropriate
Month End
- Preparing and posting journals - reviewing the results and reconciling to expected figures
- Preparing balance sheet account reconciliations for review and highlighting any issues as appropriate
Working Capital
- Reporting actual cash performance and supporting the short-term cash forecast process to control creditor payments to predetermined targets
Group Requirements
- Liaising with group functions and external parties (internal audit, external audit and tax department) as required
- Reviewing reporting and control systems and suggesting modifications to ensure compliance with group standards
IS and Business Processes
- Maintaining the financial systems (ERP, Fixed Assets, FDC) to ensure that issues are highlighted and improvements are suggested
About you
Ideally, you will come from a Financial Accountant background with previous experience in the FMCG sector.
You will be part qualified (or QBE) and have a good working knowledge of MS packages - particularly with Excel to undertake financial analysis and preparation of financial statements.
An excellent level of numeracy skills to enable understanding and analysis of numerical information to make the right conclusions and decisions, will be key – as too will a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
