What we do.   

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Factory Manager to join our busy food manufacturing facility in Boston Old Leake site just outside Boston. With around 700 employees, we product chilled Italian ready meals and modern deli products for a dedicated customer.

 

About the role.    

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Factory Manager to join our Meals team at the Boston site. Reporting into the General Manager, the successful candidate will lead the factory operation in a safe and technically compliant manner, delivering against our Vision, Business Strategy, Financial targets and Customer expectations. 

 

Accountabilities:  

  • To ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in their operation and that as a minimum their area meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.
  • To ensure standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within their factory operation appropriate to a quality food manufacturer.
  • Inputs, understands and translates the manufacturing strategy into a ‘living’ Factory Operational Plan which is clearly understood and owned by their team.
  • Manages the NPD process within their factory operation to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch.
  • Owns training and development and performance management of individuals within their factory operation to enable progression to resource growth or to replace current roles, and to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels.
  • Utilise appropriate agreed KPIs as a basis for the development of Performance Improvement Plans within the Factory Operation and cascade these KPIs through the Factory Operational Team, ensuring that they are translated and used at all levels.
  • Support and develop a culture within their factory operation where individuals feel able to challenge the status quo and encourage feedback from all levels. Support and implement change processes within their area in line with Bakkavor values.
  • Proactively looks at ways to improve their factory operation. A key player in delivering the agreed factory capital expenditure plans within the agreed factory budget.

 

About you.   

To be considered for the role, you will be / have:

 

  • An experienced Factory Manager with proven ability in FMCG dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Have experience within a Chilled Food Manufacturing environment, strong leadership skills and a clear vision for getting the best out of people and processes – will be key to this role.
  • Posses excellent leadership skills with proven track record of building and leading successful factory teams
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing, manufacturing performance measures to drive continuous improvement across the Factory
  • Knows what good looks like in terms of safety and quality culture and is able to lead and engage the team to deliver it
  • Good communication, influencing and presentation skills; able to get buy in from own team and other departments
  • Experience of setting and agreeing financial targets and budgets for the factory operation including understanding of variance management and profit and loss.
