In the UK, we work with leading grocery retailers, focusing on their own label brands.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Factory Technical Manager to join the Technical team at our Spalding meals manufacturing site.

 

The role

 

To ensure agreed standards of quality and food safety are achieved and improved upon. To lead and motivate the QA team in monitoring and evaluating product and processing systems and factory practices. To take a lead in generating and building a quality culture.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Understand and apply relevant standards and codes of practice so that Bakkavor, Customer, BRC and legal requirements are achieved and maintained.
  • Ensure that the requirements of HACCP are implemented, maintained and achieved. Involvement in the evaluation of risks and defining controls, prior to the introduction of a new process, product or raw material.
  • Understand, implement and review quality management systems associated with the production of food to the agreed safety and quality standards.
  • Implement, maintain and review an audit system to ensure that critical procedures for product safety, legality and quality are in place and complied with. In addition, review all internal findings, identify trends and implement appropriate preventative measures.
  • Drives a culture of “fit to manufacture every day” readiness through the daily operational teams.
  • Leads the business management of Technical audits, hosting audits as appropriate. Manages response & close out of non-conformance reports from audits as required.

About you

  • You will hold considerable experience of a quality or technical role in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment with extensive practical experience of auditing, HACCP, BRC & retailers code of practice.
  • Strong organisation and the ability to achieve results through effective people and system management whilst showing an agility to adapt and thrive when working under pressure.
  • Ability to build long and lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A thirst for continuous improvement / effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Food Science degree would be desirable.
  • Computer Literate in all Microsoft packages.
