Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday (8.00am – 5pm) 40 hours per week

Bakkavor Meals, based in Wigan, specialises in making chilled ready meals, food to go salads and vegetable accompaniments and employs over 1,000 people. It is part of the Bakkavor Meals sector which has eight factories in the UK.
 
The Role 

Bakkavor Meals Wigan is looking to recruit a Technical Services Manager to lead their motivated technical services team, this is a great opportunity to become part of the Bakkavor Group. 

 

Responsibilities include:
 
- Managing and developing the Quality Management System across the entire business ensuring that all QMS documentation is up to date, relevant & controlled and meets the requirements of legislation, industry standards, Bakkavor and all customers. 
 
- Establishing and maintaining a review process of customer, business and industry codes of practice to review compliance and present action plans to the Technical & Operational teams thus driving continuous improvement and best practice across site. 
 
- Establishing and maintaining a process of horizontal auditing against the QMS to ensure compliance. To establish or review and amend procedures as required by new customer codes of practice, new business initiatives or new internal systems. 
 
- Generating technical business KPI information, communicate, trend and highlight issues. Develop and agree action plans and through Continuous Improvement drive the business forward. 
 
- Effectively managing the completion of finished product specifications to meet critical path and / or customer requirements ensuring right first time. 
 
- Positively communicating technical issues and updates via the most appropriate communication channels. To collate information relating to food issues / scares and similar events and communicate to Technical Management Team and other key business interfaces as required. 
 
- Managing the business HACCP teams, co-ordinating and documenting review meetings and ensure all amendments and updates are implemented across the appropriate business functions. 
 
About you 
Ideally you will hold level 3 or 4 HACCP qualification and to be successful in this role you will need previous experience in a food environment Quality or Technical role. Experience of strong team management, demonstrable problem solving skills and root cause analysis competency with a consistent and proactive approach, will all be key to the role. 
 
Driving a culture of audit readiness, best practice, and leading resolution of project issues by negotiating in a pragmatic and calm objective manner, will be top of your agenda. 
 
You will have the ability to build long and lasting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, supported by excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will possess strong organisation skills and the ability to achieve results through effective people management whilst showing an agility to adapt and thrive when working under pressure.
